Sainsburys success for Studley

Shoppers at the Sainsbury’s Redditch were assisted with their weekly shop last weekend by Air Cadets from 480 (Studley) Squadron. The annual Squadron bag pack, the main fundraising event for the Squadron was also an opportunity to set up the recruiting stand to advertise the activities and opportunities available to 13 – 18 year olds through the Air Training Corps.

The proceeds from the bag pack were especially important this year as the Cadets begin to plan for 2011, the 70th Anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps and of 480 Squadron.

Flight Lieutenant Mark Hulme, Officer Commanding 480 Squadron, commented “Our target was to raise £1000 towards the 70th Anniversary events we are planning. The Staff, Cadets and Civilian Committee members worked their socks off all day and smashed the target by raising £1136 in total. It is a fantastic achievement and I am immensely proud of them all”.

Chairman of the Civilian Committee, Mr Alan Thomason added “The money raised will be used to provide a number of opportunities to the young people in the surrounding area and we would like to thank the Staff at Sainsbury’s Redditch for supporting us with this event”.
